David Cwir - Spirit Ministry: Power or Still Small Voice? (Life in the Spirit: Session 4)

For the early church, the Spirit represented God’s own personal presence—and since God is all-powerful—they always viewed the Spirit as the embodiment of God’s power. Yet, for some reason, later Christians adopted a quieter view of the Spirit, likening it to a “still small voice,” which starkly contrasts with the New Testament experience. The early church wouldn’t have grasped our later notions of a subdued Spirit; they understood that when God was present, power was undeniably there too. In many ways, this reality marks a key difference between them and us.
